Dear Travel Diary: Ngare Ndare

_DSC0602The new quails in town, hahaha! Well, I wasn’t amused of the quails trend(every other year there is a season they appear around my village) so I had to do this. I also missed going to Chaka Ranch when all the ‘Cheers Baba’ guys were taking their spouses and friends. So we planned one to Ngare Ndare Forest. Continue reading “Dear Travel Diary: Ngare Ndare”

Dear Travel Diary: Good Music

Some rhumba mix is playing in the background as I type this. I was supposed to be on the road during the day(today 14th April), but a cousin was driving down to the rural & I couldn’t pass on saving the fare. It’s the wise thing to do with all the buses full till Sunday, & the shuttles hiking their fares. Oh, Happy Easter to you & your loved ones too. I decided to spend time away from the city for this long weekend, 5 days is too long to be sleeping in & watching TV. To make it worse I’m done with House of Cards, got nothing to watch now. So here I am. Continue reading “Dear Travel Diary: Good Music “

Hotel Rooms Or Camping?

2a6b2ed554df441368c6b7a41088f438We all have our accommodation preferences when we go on our travels. Sometimes it’s not about what we want, but what we can afford. and even other times it’s about what can accommodate us. All these factors, and more, come into consideration when we are looking for a place to stay as we plan our travels. Most of those who stay at hotels are thought to be rich, have the money to book a night for 10000Ksh in the Mara while he or she can camp for half that, or less. Campers on the other hand are thought to be misers or without as much money to get a hotel. All those are misconceptions. I know guys who would comfortably pay for a hotel room but choose to camp(Hello The Kenyan Camper …just saying hi 😛), and guys who stay in hotel rooms after a year of savings. 5 Places You Have Never Been to In Kenya

….most likely. You may have been to one or two of the places, but I doubt you’ve been to three. You have to be a really good traveler to have made it to all. I know the assumptions in your mind right now is that these places have to be really expensive or in far away land for them to warrant that title, while in reality two of them are even free, the other three very affordable.aw Continue reading “5 Places You Have Never Been to In Kenya”

The Nairobi Bachelor’s Destinations: Oloolua Nature Trail

NOTE: Read about the first two posts on the Nairobi Bachelor’s Destinations where I shared about The African Heritage House and the Ololosokuan Nature Trail.

The Oloolua Nature Trail is just like any other found in the city. There’s not much of a difference with let’s say Karura Forest trails, but then there is just something about it that leaves you wanting to go back. It has been a while(a year and a half) since I was there, but my photographic memory of the place still lingers. It is one of the coolest and calmest places you will find in Nairobi(it’s neighborhood is a big plus). Located in Karen, you are sure not to experience crowds while you take a walk or a jog around. The picnic areas are also very nice, with benches and well maintained grass for the lovers of the traditional picnic.

Watamu Bliss

Happy new year folks! Welcome back to another 12 months of sharing travel stories we experience, especially those we want to forget..hehe! Anyone with a quick getaway experience over the holidays you need to share? Those who saved enough, and the rich kids. Some of us had used all our savings(..in a pretty good way) by the time we got to the holidays we just had to stay in our beds and like your Instagram photos. Several people were down at the coast(as is the norm), good for you. cropped-img_20161203_174410.jpg Continue reading “Watamu Bliss”
